Leyanet Gonzalez (CUB)

1991 Pan American B Champion
2003 Pan American V Champion

Leyanet was born on September 30, 1978.  A gymnastics prodigy, she made her international debut at the age of 11.  She's had a few injuries throughout her career (knee surgery in 1992, dislocated elbow 20 days before the 1999 Pan American Games), and retired briefly in 2000-2001 to marry and have a child.

Leyanet is married to Erick Lopez, Cuba's most successful male gymnast ever.  Their son, Erick Jr., was born in 2001.  She's coached by Fernando Veliz, and says that competing in the 2004 Olympic Games was a dream come true.
