Vladimir was born in Alma-Ata (Kazakh SSR) on August 4, 1970 and trained at Dynamo. Moving to the USA in the 1990s, Novikov is married with two children. He and his wife, Joanne, own and operate Planet Gymnastics in Mobile, AL and Hattiesburg, MS.
