Hi,

Does anyone know when/if ESPN/ESPN2 will be re-airing the Rock'n'Roll
Challenge?  I missed it the first time around and hope I can catch it
the next time.

Thanks.

I was watching my tape of the Atlanta Invitational for the 1st
time last night and was impressed with Roza Galieva.  She looked
pretty good.  I have a couple questions about her.  First,
in the Subway gymn challenge was she competing for russia
or uzbekistan?  The announcers said it was her first competition
as a Russian, but since the Subway meet was only weeks before
I wondered.....

Also, why is she suddenly blaming Alex Alexandrov for pulling
her in the Olympics.  In a back issue of IG I have it sayz
in an interview that she 'was injured and could have competed'
(that is not a direct quote).  Why is she switching her
opinion?

Does anyone have any predictions for 96?
I think Svetlana Khorkina will be the womens' champion, and
Nemov will win the mens.  China will win both team titles,
and the US won't place in either.  (Russia will be like
fire after this year's mistakes........

You know, this thing about necklaces. I don't know about specific examples
of gymnasts who recieved deductions, but there are plenty of pictures in
Old IGs of gymnasts wearing long necklaces. I even remember seeing
Nadia in a close up of a cast off the bars with a long necklace. I
think it was at Moscow '80.

Also, did that gymnast from Russia who lost her hair ribbon in the middle
of her FX in Sabae recieve a deduction? It was the one who did the arabian
double front punch front.

I have a few questions/comments.

1.  Is Dom Moceanu's pass of 2 (or 3 I can't remember) layout fronts to a
punch front more difficult than other front tumbling, or was she just
watering down for the relaxed nature of the meet.  Being a non-gymnast, its
hard for me to tell.  Along those lines, would it be possible for someone to
do a few layout fronts, front handspring, double front?? (Kind of like
Zmeskal's pass going front instead of back)

2.  Like many others, I was impressed with Kim's floor.  Does anyone know how
she is doing on other events, what skills she's training, etc?  Will her
first "real" competition be the American Classic?

3. Shannon looked so happy and relaxed.  I still like her more doing
classical routines, though.  Does anyone know if she's planning to compete in
the 1996 worlds, or instead is she planning on taking it easy in the spring
so as to be 100% for the Olympics?

Subject: USA v. the World

Does anyone know about this competition? Last night one of the local news
stations here in Houston showed an interview (half an hour!) with Bela,
Kim & Dom that was recorded during a work-out session soon after the
Sabae World Championships.
They talked about USA v. the World and said that it was going to
take place in Houston at the end of November or early December. Kim & Dom
were going to be a part of the US team and several top Romanians,
Russians, and maybe others were going to make up the World team. It was
supposed to be similar to the figure skating version that took place in
October I believe, and was supposed to be Kim's first competition against
the world and she was excited. This may have already been discussed, but
I'm new here and very curious of the results and the popular opinion.
If anyone knows anything please let me know because it wasn't advertised
here at all.  Thanks!!!!!

Oh, as I was writing a commercial just came on the radio for anyone who
lives in Houston. Kim, Dom, & Bela will be on hand for a "special
demonstration" this Saturday (12/30) from 1-3pm at Interstate Ford. I'm
not exactly sure what this involves but I thought I'd pass the word on.

Hi!!!!!

We just got our IG!! Did anyone else get theirs? There was a pretty
long column (about 5 paragraphs) in the briefly speaking column about
GYMN!!!! It has a little picture too (drawn--a computer with GYMN or
something like that written on it). It mentioned Rachele, George's, and
Debbie's (maybe someone else's) name in it too! It gave the address out
and how to subscribe. It was pretty cool!!! Just thought y'all would be
interested :)

I just finished reading the January IG. It mentioned Gymn, and how
to subscribe. I bet we will be getting a lot of new people on here!! I
thought that the interview with Oksana Chusovitina(sp?) was good, but
awfully short( not even a page long). The issue had some excellent pictures
in it, and a lot in color too! One thing that I thought was kind of weird
was that they didn't have any coverage of the Subway World Gymnastics
Challenge, only pictures and scores.

Dory has put together a few paragraphs for Windows users with SLIP/PPP
accounts to access IRC.  We are still gathering info for Mac and
university students, to assemble a SHORT how-to to get people started
on the road to IRC. We are a gymnastics list, though, and not a "how
to use the Internet" list -- those of you on AOL, *P*, CI$, or
what-have -you should call your 1-800 numbers for more info.

That said, anyone with IRC experience on Mac, university access, etc,
please write me with any info you have on getting started!

There will be a strike against AOL on the 2nd of January to protest the
pricing structure, and their arrogance. Please do not use AOL on the 2nd of
January, and help make this protest a success.

AOL is raising the price to access AOL NET to $6.00 an hour not including the
$2.95 an hour you already pay above the five free hours each month.

Please foward this mail to as many people as possible.  Do whatever you can
to make this strike work and our already high rates stay the same.

Join the cause and send this to everyone you know, and those who you don't.
For more information, please send an e-mail to: unicricket@aol.com.

Debbie,
Patti Komera has a training video for teaching skills on the Tumbl Trak that
you can purchase.  You can call her at 219-865-2274 for more info or to

Also you can call the Tumbl Trak manufacturer directly and ask for Mike
