Hi
I am interseted in swapping gym videos. The videos must be PAL-VHS format. I
have a few competitions on tape including the recent Iternational Gymnastics
Challenge and South African National Championships. I am especially looking
for the Commonwealth Games (94) and the Sabae Worlds. Please contact me if
you would like to swap.
Helen.

Subject: Yurchenko's in US college competition

[sorry if I botched the spelling of Yurchenko]

I thought that Yurchenko style vaults were not allowed in US collegiate
gymnastics.  Can someone please confirm or deny this?  I'm asking this
because of the report that Lisa Simes did what was suspected to be a Yurchenko
vault in a UMich meet.  I know that Anjel said that there might be some
mistakes in vault descriptions in the report from that meet and I'm not trying
to point out a possible error.  Rather, I'm just curious because I seem to
recall hearing some talk that they were considering allowing Yurchenko style
vaults at the collegiate level and I'm wondering if they have actually done
this.

Can anyone tell me how Dominique Dawes and Amy Chow are doing?  Have they
fully recovered from their injuries yet?  I know Amanda Borden recently
injured herself, how is she doing?  How much time was there between
Amanda's recovery of her previous injury and her recent injury?  Thanks
in advance.

Does anyone have any more information about Dominique Dawes' ineligiblity
to compete in college?  What I am looking for is the source of her
"money" she accepted, when it happened, her future plans in the
gymnastics aspect, and so forth.  I REALLY like Dominique Dawes, so any
information is GREATLY appreciated.  I would be interested in a bio. of
her career, such as when she started, when she hit "the big time", etc.
Thanks againb!  :-)

Hi everybody...

As far as I am concerned, DM's rebound on Floor-X should not be deducted.  It
is quite evident to most gymners that this landing is secure, powerful and
very elegant.  She is just plain air-borne and superbly graceful.  I did not
see any evidence of unstability, simply a display of great strength.

I cannot approve of such a deduction.

This has two parts :)
1) Thanks to everyone who's been mailing me recruits for various
school. One more question about them, and then I should be finished.
Have either Heather Brink or Mohini Bhardwaj committed any place yet?

2) Anyone know any good ways to deal with back spasms? Specifically
lower back pain? Seems to be a fairly common problem in women's gymn.

PS -- _Sports Illustrated_  just named it's "Sportsman of the Year" for 1995
(Cal Ripken Jr.). The only gymnast to *ever* have this honor (since '54 when
they started the selection) was Mary Lou Retton in '84 when she tied with
Edwin Moses.

If you happen to be in the area for the CATS CLASSIC and have
children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren who may be interested in
gymnastics (yourself included), this will be a terrific event (in all
levels) to attend.

Some of the top gyms from region 6 will be there and some are meeting
for the third time this season.
My daughter's gym "YellowJackets" from Danvers, Mass will be there
and I believe that the "Kingstown Tigers" from RI will also be there.

Arta, good luck to Lisa!!  By the way, how did she make out at states
last week?

Good Luck to all the GYMASTS at CATS CLASSIC.

GO YellowJackets!!!
