I thought Gabriela Potorac also did a double twisting Yurchenko
during the AA at Seoul???

I've definitely seen her do one anyway.

Gabriela Potorac did perform a double twisting Yurchenko Vault in the 1988
Olympics.  It was during Event Finals.  She got the Silver Medal on Vault.

I have on tape that Svetlana Baitova, USSR, did a double twisting Yurchenko in
Competition 1B (optionals) in Seoul -- a pretty good one too.  Thus, I'm
assuming that she performed it in the all-around as well.

Sorry it took me so long to post this (I don't think this has been mentioned
yet), but The _ Atlanta Journal & Constitution _ reported last Friday that
Boguinskya will represent Belarus at the upcoming Atlanta Invitational.  It
sounds like the level of competition is definitely rising...it should be
interesting! :)

Baitova did do a double twisting Yurchenko during the team competition but  I
*know* she didn't do one in the All-Around since she wasn't in it.

Laschenova performed a double twister in both AA *and* team but neither she
nor Baitova made finals. They were, ironically, displaced by two Soviets who
earned their berths with single twists (Bogie and Shus).

The three Soviets in the AA were; Shushunova (gold), Boginskaya (bronze), and
Lashchenova (5th). The Romanians were; Silivas (silver), Potorac (4th), and
Dobre (6th).

If I remember correctly, places 1-6 (all Soviets and Romanians, BTW) didn't
change at all after the preliminaries. I know Baitova and Shevchenko were
like 13th & 14th after team, and the 4th & 5th best Sovs, respectively.
Strazheva, of course, didn't factor since she fell on beam and never got to
compete floor. She *was* the highest of all the athletes that pulled out of
the competition early, if that counts for anything.

As for Potorac's double twist ... Romania went into the final round, for them
vault, slightly behind the Sovs with a chance to catch up - in theory anyway
-  because of Strazheva's withdraw. There's no way they would have risked a
vault like the Yurchenko double in that situation.
