I was saddened to see the USA team down in the low 270's.

For a longtime I thought I was seeing rather mediocre feat when i caught
Stanford meets.  My only comparison was the olympic coverage every 4 years.

But Stanford always gets like 280's on their meets.

Maybe STanford is more studly than I thought....
Maybe team USA needs more Stanfordites and a new coach....

Pitchforks machetes and torches anyone ?

Maybe NCAA gymnasts are overscored.

Plus, 280 or whatever is for optionals.

Does anyone know why Jessica Davis?  I don't know enough about rhythmic
to know what her accomplishments have been this year, but I was sort of
under the impression that Tamara Levinson was pretty much the undisputed
#1 in the US.  Did Jessica have a special achievement, like Paul O'Neill
did?

This is *not* the Olympic qualifier.  That will be next fall at the
"full" Worlds in Sabae, Japan.  BTW, I forgot to answer where you asked
whether the Olympics will have the same format as Dortmund.  They will
not.  They will be just the same as always.  An additional point about
why have prelims is that we want a lot of different countries to
participate at Worlds.  It's important to the development of the sport,
and countries still want to rank themselves against each other even if
they're not finals-quality teams.

While I agree with the predictions for Dortmund, I have to take issue
with the analysis of the past.  I don't think the US has ever contended
for the team gold ('84 doesn't count, and even if it did, it's
debatable whether they were contenders for the gold, and even if they
were, it's further debatable whether they were legitimate contenders for
the gold).  The first time the US ever contended for a medal (in anything
like recent memory, anyway) was in '88, and that was a bronze at max.
Arguably that were a legitimate candidate for bronze in '89.  The first
time the US contended for anything above that was in '91, and then there
was '92.  To say that it was "usually" USA-ROM-USSR/CIS all competing
for gold stretches the word "usually" beyond any ordinary definition.
In any case, IMO every single one of those times, the USSR's victory was
a foregone conclusion (there might have been some doubt before '88
because Romania was the defending World Champ, but once the teams
arrived for the competition, it was evident who was superior).  The US
has contended for silver, but never for gold, and Romania only
occasionally has *really* contended for gold.

Just my $0.20 (or $0.50, or at the rate I've been going today, like
$1.00.  I *must* go do some work).

Hello!

I predict the Russia will win the women's team title. But I am
whit China. They have wery good gymnastics.
Also, I'm not with Shannon Miller, because shi is in a good position.

Sorry for my English, I'm still learning that language.

I wish I could have gone to Dortmund.  I don't like this feeling.  Since
I went to the last Worlds, staying home and watching highlights on TV
just isn't the same now.  I vow to go to Japan.  Oh well, there is going
to be some great gymnastics and I'm sure high scores.  Although it is
uncertain whether the two will go together.

Go Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, China, France, Bulgaria, Cuba...

Is Greece going?  I forget.

When is the first day of competition again?
